R2-D2

R2-D2

This R2-D2 Figure is easy to print, requiring no supports, MMU/AMS, or glue and is a blast to assemble!

Printing Instructions:

  • STLs already in suggested printing orientation
  • No supports needed
  • I would always recommend using a brim if you're not certain about the bed adhesion of any of these parts.

Filament Used In Pictures

This is a list of the filament I used while making this model. I receive no money from you clicking these links, and there may be better choices. This is just what I had available and what I thought looked good! Hope it helps :)

Required Parts/Tools for Assembly:

  • 3D Printed Parts [Filament]
    • Body
      • 1x - White Parts [Cotton White]
      • 1x - Black Part [True Black]
      • 1x - Silver Parts [Silver]
      • 1x - Blue Parts [Matte Navy]
      • 1x - Red Part [Matte Terracotta]
  • Tools (ALL OPTIONAL)
    • Super Glue (for holding figure in one position/pose if desired)

Assembly Instructions:

This model is a bit different than most of my figures, but the assembly methods are all pretty similar to how I normally do things (press fits, threads, etc.)! Hope you enjoy :)

Head and Body: The blue parts simply press-fit into the white/silver parts! There are a lot of parts so see the image below of the head and the STL file. The STL file purposely has the blue parts for the head in the correct position they need to be inserted so you can take them straight from the bed and assemble them without getting them mixed up!

Legs & Bottom: The legs and bottom of the model are pretty straightforward. Insert the shaft into one of the legs with the cutout facing straight up, then insert the little half circle looking retaining pin.

Push the shaft through the body and repeat with the other side.

The bottom of the model just threads in, there's only one way it can go in. Just thread it until it's in the orientation seen below and flush with the bottom of the main body.
