Generic Figure

Generic Figure

This Generic Figure model is an easy-to-print and assemble LEGO-inspired figure requiring no supports, MMU/AMS, or glue. It's tons of fun to make! It is also the base model from which I have designed all other of my BIG BRICK models, so if you like this model go check out my others! If you'd like to see any specific figures, please don't hesitate to shoot me a message and I'll see what I can do!

Printing Instructions:

  • STLs already in suggested printing orientation
  • No supports needed
  • I would always recommend using a brim if you're not certain about the bed adhesion of any of these parts. In particular, the hands and arms can cause issues if there is poor adhesion.

Filament Used In Pictures

This is a list of the filament I used while making this model. I receive no money from you clicking these links, and there may be better choices. This is just what I had available and what I thought looked good! Hope it helps :)

Parts/Tools for Assembly:

  • 3D Printed Parts [Filament]
    • 1x - Head [Yellow]
    • 1x - Head - Inserts [Charcoal Black]
    • 1x - Torso [Matte Terracotta]
    • 1x - Arms (brim may be helpful, connector portion may print uncleanly, this is okay!)[Matte Terracotta]
    • 1x - Hands - Solid OR Assembly [Yellow]
    • 1x - Waist Assembly [Pastel Ice]
    • 1x - Legs [Pastel Ice]

  • Tools (ALL OPTIONAL)
    • Super Glue (for holding figure in one position/pose if desired)
    • Small Allen Wrench (to twist on part of waist assembly)
    • Fine-tip Black Marker (to color in the face)

Assembly Instructions:

Some parts of the assembly require a bit of force to press things inside other things (this is intentional for the figure to be able to pose on its own). I find it easiest to twist as I push things in to help them slide past and fit together. Have fun!

Step 1: Start by inserting the waist pin into the main waist body. There is only one orientation that the pin can be inserted. Push the pin in until it is centered on the waist, and the small notch in it matches with the larger notch in the waist. Once the pin is in, slide in the retaining clip until it sits flush with the circular portion of the waist.

Step 2: To finish the waist, insert one of the waist-torso connectors into the top of the waist and twist it into position. There are holes in the connectors to place a small allen wrench or something similar to get a little extra leverage in case the fit is especially tight (if the fit is too tight, it's likely your bridging on the waist body needed to be cleaner). Twist until the connecter is square. Repeat with the other side.

Step 3: To attach the legs, insert the pin into the hole on the leg - this will be a tight fit. Twist as you push the leg onto the pin, making sure you spoort the center of the waist so it doesn't bend/break. Push the leg all the way on until it is seated, and can twist firmly. Repeat with the other side. (If you're following this guide for another one of my BIG BRICK models, make sure the legs are inserted in the correct orientation relative to the waist)

Step 4a (If using Hands - Assembly): This step is optional, but highly recommended as the assembly version of the hands is much stronger and easy to print. Begin by inserting the long pin into the 'C' shaped part of the hand - it only goes in one way. After, insert this into the base of the hand and lock it in with the small pin.

Step 4b: Set the waist-leg assembly to the side and connect a hand to one of the arms by simply sliding the hand into the arm until the small inset section is completely hidden. There may be a small snap. The rounded portion of the hand should face down towards the bottom of the arm/ground. Repeat with the other arm.

Step 5: Once the arms have been assembled, they snap into the holes in the torso as seen below - this will be a tight fit. Twist as you push the arm into the hole until it is completely seated and can twist firmly. (If you're following this guide for another one of my BIG BRICK models, make sure the arms are inserted in the correct orientation relative to the torso)

Step 6: You can now connect the leg assembly to the torso assembly by sliding the torso down onto the waist-torso connectors. This should be a nice, smooth fit.

Step 7: The last step for assembling the body is to top the model with the head! It just slides down onto the top of the torso. UPDATE: The head is now printed as an assembly with black inserts so you don't have to color it with a marker.

If you're following this guide for another one of my BIG BRICK models there are likely other steps that need to be completed for that specific model. Refer back to those model pages to complete those assemblies :)
